River Mueller is an emerging artist living and working on Widjabul Wia-bul land in Bundjalung Country. River primarily works with large scale acrylic paintings on canvas exploring issues surrounding social justice, gun violence, LGBTQIA+ liberation and identity, and decolonisation. In 2025, River completed their first mural work in Guadalajara Mexico, featuring a 360 degree mural work on four walls, ceiling and skylight.

 

River Graduated with a Bachelor of Art and Design from Southern Cross University in 2024. Upon graduation River received several awards including the Kaske third year award, the NRCG Solo exhibition award and the Michael Foley Bequest award. River was also a recipient of the 2024 Pinnacle foundation Scholarship awarded to outstanding LGBTQIA+ tertiary students across Australia.

 

River has exhibited in four group shows in the Lismore region and has curated three exhibitions both at Southern Cross University Lismore and the Eltham Gallery in Northern NSW. In 2025 River had one solo show at the NRCG in Ballina NSW, and one solo show at the Jupiterfab Cultural Gallery in Guadalajara Mexico.
